      Rural Community Tourism in San Marcos de Tarrazu.<\/p>

      Costa Rica has seven varieties of coffee; it is a very high-yield area ideal for producing and harvesting these beans. The higher areas, the land above 1,200 meters above sea level, are of volcanic origin, where the coffee is more robust or acidic and more aromatic. San Marcos de Tarrazu is located at 1,429 meters above sea level.       The area of Los Santos is known for its coffee production. San Marcos de Tarrazu is the first district and head town of the canton of Tarrazu. Several neighborhoods are named after saints, such as San Guillermo, San Cayetano, San Pedro, and San Luis. For that reason, the area is named after them.<\/p>

      In Costa Rica, Rural Community Tourism is developed with communities or projects that offer a sustainable tourism option with environmental and social aspects. The whole community benefits and gives back with its cultural richness and customs to make known the authenticity of our culture and nature.<\/p>

      The’ Tierra Amiga’ project offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to immerse yourself in the roots, culture, and traditions of the grandparents of these areas. The experience includes hands-on learning about the cultivation and production of artisan coffee, exploring an organic vegetable garden, and savoring the traditional food of the area.       The experience is not just about sightseeing. It’s an interactive journey that lasts approximately 3 hours. You’ll walk through the farm with coffee and other crops, with strategic stops to learn about coffee and other agricultural products. The tour includes a communication game, making learning fun and engaging.<\/p>

      Our coffee experience is a hands-on journey of authenticity. You’ll actively participate in all the stages of preparation, starting at the pylon, continuing with the artisanal roasting and grinding process, and culminating in the preparation of a drip coffee in a wood-burning cooker. This is not just a coffee, it’s a taste of the local culture and tradition.<\/p>

      During the tour, fresh produce is collected from the organic garden for the typical lunch cooked by Lucidia on a wood-fired cooker. A snack consisting of coffee is tasted, accompanied by homemade bread baked in a wood-fired oven.<\/p>
