Destination:
This is an association comprising eighteen families from the Bribri community in Talamanca. Its purpose is to ensure the conservation of nature and the preservation of its traditions, where visitors have the opportunity to learn ancestral practices in organic agriculture, cocoa preparation, suitá weaving, dry and gourd handicrafts, archery, and ancient Bribri songs dedicated to the earth, corn, cocoa, and nature. In addition, on magical walks through the forest, your guides will share secrets they have kept from their mountain, as wise guardians of their indigenous cultural heritage.
For this experience, please arrive at Bambú, in Bribri de Talamanca, at 9:00 am to meet your guide from the community of Yorkin, with whom you will take the boat and begin the approximately 1.5-hour transfer to Yorkin. During this tour, your local guide will provide you with information about the York River and its significance to the community.
Upon arrival, you will walk for about 15 minutes to the village where you will receive a short explanation about the work of the association, visit the organic farm where you will see different fruits and medicinal plants, and then visit the school and the traditional houses.
Afterwards, you will enjoy a typical lunch served at Yorkin’s ranch. In the afternoon, you will learn about the processing of cocoa into chocolate and then receive lessons on the use of the bow and arrow. Around 3 pm, you will take the boat back to Bamboo, where this enriching adventure concludes.
