This community has about 100 inhabitants, most dedicated to livestock, milk production, and its derivatives. In addition to agriculture such as pineapple, bananas, and tubers, given the warm and humid climate conditions it usually has.

The Juanilama Ecological Reserve has a 25-hectare primary forest with impressive flora, fauna, and waterfalls. It is bordered to the northeast by the Pocosol River and the Quebrada La Leona.
Accommodation is available in the village: Homestay: a family atmosphere where you will be treated as a family member. You will have a private room and bathroom with your host family.

We want our visitors to get involved in all possible processes with their own hands, from the tour through the trees where they can cut and taste fruits of our tropics to the experience of harvesting tubers such as cassava and malanga or cutting bananas and sugar cane, as well as learning about the production of pineapple, cocoa process, medicinal plants, and others. Includes a tour of the plantations and gardens, a local guide (NOT BILINGUAL), and a taste of the farm’s organic products and refreshments.

This route consists of 2 kilometers of demarcated nature trails of medium difficulty. It allows the visitor to reach the foot of the La Leona Waterfall and swim in crystal clear waters. A local guide offers information about the existing flora and fauna during the walk.

Meet with local housewives, the true masters of traditional Tico cuisine. Around a fire pit (wood cooker) used for all kinds of cooking, the participants prepare the most typical dishes of our grandmothers such as picadillos, prestiños, tortillas, barbudos and enyucados.

The guide, a traditional dairy farmer, starts the tour with a historical review of the area, the production of milk and its derivatives, the crossing of cow breeds to obtain the best possible quality and quantity of milk, and a visit to the farmyard to show how and with what products the cattle are fed. Afterward, the visitor will be able to bring the animals from the pasture and prepare them for hand milking with the help of the guide. Then, the visitor will have the opportunity to feed the calves. At the end of the tour, the tourist will be able to participate in handling the milk and how to produce cheese (palmetto, soft, semi-hard, etc.) and other dairy products such as custard and yogurt.
