Description:
This is an association made up of eighteen families from Bribri, Talamanca. Its purpose is to procure the conservation of nature and the rescue of its traditions, where visitors have the opportunity to learn ancestral practices in organic agriculture, preparation of cocoa, weaving of Suita, making crafts in senco and pumpkin, archery, and ancient Bribri songs dedicated to the earth, corn, cocoa, and nature. In addition, during the magical walks through the forest, your guides will tell you secrets they keep from their mountain as wise guardians of their indigenous cultural heritage. For this experience, you should arrive at Bambú, in Bribri de Talamanca, at 09:00 am to meet your guide from the community of Yorkin, with whom you will take the boat and begin the transfer of approximately 1 ½ hours to Yorkin. During this tour, your local guide will inform you about the Yorkin River and its importance to the community. Upon arrival, you will walk about 15 minutes to the village, where you will receive a short explanation about the work of the association, visit the organic farm, where you will observe different fruits and medicinal plants, then visit the school and the traditional houses, followed by a typical lunch that will be served at the Yorkin ranch. In the afternoon, you will learn about cocoa processing into chocolate and then receive lessons on using the bow and arrow. Around 3 pm, you will take the boat back to Bamboo, where this enriching adventure concludes.
