Corcovado National Park:

Corcovado National Park preserves the last part of the Mesoamerican Pacific humid tropical forest.  Its location, its climatic characteristics, the inconsistent state of its soils, and its topography make this place a fantastic diversity of biological species.

It has flora that adds thousands of species, many of which have a restricted distribution and that have disappeared in other regions, as well as fauna that is distinguished by the diversity of its species, even more so when you consider that large numbers of people are in danger of extinction which occurs in the region.

The park is on the Osa Peninsula’s Pacific coast in the Puntarenas Province.  It has an area of approximately 50,000 land and 5,000 marine hectares.

Corcovado has 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity, not for nothing, as in November 2016, National Geographic declared it the best park in the world.

Corcovado has five stations (places where park rangers take care of our gem, apart from those who go through the mountains and protect our paradise).

  • Los Patos Station.
  • Site the plans.
  • San Pedrillo Station.
  • La Leona Station.
  • Sirena Station

Of these five stations, the only one that provides room and board is the Sirena Biological Station.  This store sells natural juices, artisanal chocolates, and staple foods.  The accommodation can accommodate 70 people.  This is on a platform with shared cabins, toilets, and showers.

We arrive in Sirena by boat from Puerto Jiménez or Drake Bay.  And on the way to enjoy more, walk about 9 hours

from the Puerto Jiménez sector, you will catch private transportation to Carate or Los Patos.

Sirena has four trails: Espaveles, Naranjos, Río Claro, and Sirena Trail, that we can ride if we spend two nights in this station.
