BOTANICAL GARDEN IN GUACIMO

Description:

This 3.5-hectare botanical garden features a collection of more than 300 species of native, foreign, and hybrid orchids. In addition to these collections, plants are created using in vitro (laboratory) culture. It is a Costa Rican company and one of the first agro-tourism companies in Limón province, where you can find everything from exotic orchids to tree ferns. In this sanctuary, you can see over 5000 plants of more than 30 genera. In addition, various birds can be seen along the trails, including toucans, parakeets, parrots, macaws, and tanagers.

The garden has two primary sources of water: Quebrada Leona and the inner artificial lagoons. The Quebrada Leona is a small river that is part of the Parismina River basin that carries its waters to the canals of Tortuguero National Park.
