At the international airport Juan Santamaría, a representative of the MARO Experiences will welcome you and prepare you for the upcoming trip heading to Santa Ana. Transfer to Santa Ana is about 20 minutes from the international airport.

After breakfast, the Sarapiquí area can be reached in just 1 hour and 30 minutes from San José. This area is very diverse in its climate, so you will have the opportunity to meet with the family of Gómez, who can tell you more about the area and its diversity.

After check in, we will explain to you more in detail that this tour is 100% sustainable. You will learn about the consistency in a reorganization and visit new hectares of natural forest plantations and organ plantations.

You are able to observe plants, native trees of the spring zone, mares and frogs’ natural habitat and have a self-made juice during this excursion.

We will visit the pineapple processing area where you will enjoy delicious fruit that is entirely organic. furthermore you will be able to visit a pineapple plantation and listen to small charcoals on the pine seed. Sandra will give you a warm welcome when you arrive at the community of Juanilama. Check-in and check-out is at the community houses. We will have a handcraft tour and take part in a handcraft lesson with common pieces of paper, sheets and plastic bags or other utensils ready for you. Elena, a teacher, will teach you how to do that. For the night we will have a cooking class with Mrs. Guiselle.

This tour includes a deeper glimpse of the historical resource of the area, the production of milk and its derivatives, the difference between quality and quantity of the production of high-quality milk. You will quickly see how local business is run here.

For this day, there is an opportunity to go fishing. We will guide you through the different fishing methods. Also, during another session  you can follow the production process of milk and cheese (palmito cheese, semiduro, etc.) and other milk products such as yogurt.

This next activity is also OPTIONAL to choose and depends on the local weather conditions: The Arenal Volcano is just 1 hour away and could last a whole day. So you might just experience one of the thermal springs or also check out the National park for a hike? Before dawn, drive back to the community to share your experiences of the day and spend the night with an optional dance class learning about popular music such as salsa, cumbia with Eli. She is an expert in that field.

In this tour you will visit the Central Pacific zone of the Zapotal Community that is approximately 4 hours away. It is a community of 100 people that offers a comfortable, authentic and family atmosphere. The communitys’ activities are the sale of cheese and fruits on their farmer’s farm. It is at the same time a community that is on the Monteverde coast, where climate is responsible for the rich vegetation and its fresh climate.

At the end of the day, we will be waiting for Sra. Fresy who guide you to your accommodation.

It is a community of 100 people that offers a comfortable, authentic and family atmosphere. The communitys’ activities are the sale of cheese and fruits on their farmer’s farm. It is at the same time a community that is on the Monteverde coast, where climate is responsible for the rich vegetation and its fresh climate.

At the end of the day, we will be waiting for Sra. Fresy who guide you to your accommodation.

After a brief morning meeting, we take a walk of approximately 1 hour, going from the center of the community towards our destination. The road leads us through the mountains where we will pass a forest by the river Jabonal with its cascade. We will be seeing a community that resides here for more than 100 years of existence between San Ramón and Miramar.

Heading back to town for a last night in San José.
